About Us
Many changes have taken place since those early days and no longer are we a rural area; we have become part of the London Borough of Havering. The church is now situated in a residential area amid a small local shops and restaurants a Tesco Express and a KFC on the corner of Cherry Tree lane and Rainham Road.near by is the local library (South Hornchurch) just two minutes walk away, and a small car park is next door.
Our Postal address is Rainham which is part of a London regeneration scheme to bring Hi-Tech and other business opportunities into the area creating work for local people.
The church was originally planted when a local farmer (Mr James Vellacottt) going to market in Romford realised, under the power of God, that a church work was going to be needed in the area. He took the responsibility to purchase the land and set up a trust (Rainham Evangelisation Trust Ltd) to oversee the setting up and protection of the ministry at Whybridge Church.
In those early days we had strong links with another local church at Cowper Road and London City Mission was instrumental in the planting of this church. Whybriudge Curch has always had an evangelical position and in 1984 the Rainham Trust passed on the on trust responsibilities to the F.I.E.C Ltd (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches) The church was already a member of the F.I.E.C
Like many churches towards the end the 1900’s we faced falling membership as England has abandoned Jesus and the Christian faith. The building built for a different period in history needed a lot of modernisation and it was becoming increasingly difficult to impact the area. However the Lord has been faithful and we have been able to spend about £150,000 on modernisation of the building and have began to see an increase of people to join with us in reaching out with the gospel. We look forward to the Lord pouring out His blessing.
Our communitiy today is made up of people from all over the world and the members of our church community reflect this. Our goal is to empower people to use their spiritual gifts and continue to grow and plant other churches. Our authority remains the word of God and work to represent New Testament teachings for the practice of our faith individually and as a church

Evangelist Ambe Lucas

Mr Philip Barker
Mr. Philip Barker, one of the oldest and most respected members of the congregation, is deeply grounded in the Word of God. He runs the Bible studies, sharing his extensive scriptural knowledge and nurturing the congregation's spiritual growth, fostering a deeper understanding of the Word and strengthening their faith journey.
Pastor Joseph Odima
Pastor Odima’s sermons are filled with zeal, aiming to inspire and uplift his congregation, drawing them closer to their faith and experiencing the divine power of God in their lives. His influence and impact are felt deeply within the communities he serves, as he continues to lead with a strong spiritual conviction and a heart for ministry
We were members of the F.I.E.C (Fellowship of Independent Evangelical Churches).
As from 01.01.2021 we have became a charity in England and Wales to the glory of God

Our Mission & Vision
Whybridge Church is a group of people working together to serve God in Rainham and beyond. We are here to share the Good News of eternal life in Jesus Christ with our neighbours and to demonstrate Christian love in our activities. We meet for services on Sunday and have activities for all ages during the week; We make prayer a priority and would be glad to pray for you in your situations.
Our purpose is to worship God through the preaching, and reading of the Bible in conjunction with music, prayer, praise and Congregational involvement. To grow in fellowship with one another and God, encouraging us to grow in spiritual maturity and in the use of spiritual gifts given by God according to His choice and purpose.
To reach out with the Good News of Jesus Christ, firstly to the community God has placed us in as a church, and personal contacts in our lives. Then to the greater area of London, the U.K, and to the world, both corporately as a church and individually, as God enables us, through sponsorship, prayer, ministry, and church seeding.
Not a believer? None of us were. BUT JESUS BROUGHT US A MESSAGE OF HOPE
Whybridge Christian Fellowship is not a place of perfect people who never get things wrong. It is a place were imperfect people can find answers,
- We teach that Bible is the word of God,
- We call people to a relationship with God,
- We teach about living in that relationship with God, how that changes our relationship with others and the world we live in.
- We understand that Jesus is only way to gain a relationship with God because He alone, has, and can deal with the sin (wrongs we commit against a Holy God) which stands in the way.
- Whybridge is an active fellowship and growing church family. We come from different backgrounds and different places but have a common purpose to glorify God in our lives.
Our church welcomes all who want to know God weather in a search for the answers or committed in faith, God’s word is the authority for morality, and church practice
